Rahim Bah – The foster child that started it all…

I remember landing in the UK at the tender age of 15, feeling utterly alone. I couldn’t speak English, and my pockets were empty. The foreign streets felt daunting, but I was determined to make a new life for myself. Social services became my guide, and a kind foster family opened their home to me. Growing up in a tough neighbourhood in London, I learned resilience and the power of determination.

In 2017, I was a typical accountant who was responsible for managing financial records, preparing and examining financial statements and financial planning. My family life suffered, and I became a stranger in my own home. My life began to be miserable. 

One Saturday morning, a terrifying thought struck me: What if something happened to me? An accident, an illness, one of my children suddenly fell ill… and I could no longer work?
